Wake County is a dynamic community that is filled with colleges, hospitals, large and small business and has experienced explosive growth over the last 30 years.

From 1980 through 2010 the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that Wake County grew by roughly 600,000. The County added nearly 275,000 from 2000 to 2010. As of April 1, 2010, Wake County had a population of 900,993 residents.

The estimated population for 2013 is 964,486 and the 2014 projected population is 983,754.

the senior population

According to the 2010 US Census, more than 76,000 seniors live in Wake County and over 1.2 million live in North Carolina.

Wake County has seen a not only an explosive growth in the general population, but also in the senior population.

Raleigh is a preferred destination for seniors across the country and many have moved here to be closer to their families and loved ones who moved here to take advantage of the powerful economy, fabulous weather and close proximity to the beautiful beaches near Wilmington, NC, the pristine mountains near Asheville, NC and within driving distance to Charlotte, Richmond, Charleston Atlanta.
